Piazza Vicolo Della Moretta is a piazza located in the heart of the ancient city of Rome. Currently, the piazza is simply asphalt and a space for parking. Our goals of this piazza design were to improve pedestrian and car circulation, create urban biodiversity, increase seating and gathering spaces for the community, and create a program that shines light on the nearby Tiber. We wanted our design to be modern, yet functional for the nearby residents and tourists that might flock to this area for shade. Currently the site is mainly gray and simple, therefore we wanted to bring a variety of color into the program and design of the piazza.
